Judging

All works will be graded on various items including creativity, technical merit and execution of ideas. Entries do not compete directly against one another. They are judged on their own merits within the standards of their respective category. In other words, a big budget commercial will be judged by a different set of standards than a low budget training video. A nominating committee will view and recommend entries to qualify as Finalists. From there they will be viewed by our panel of judges and go through a complex scoring system to determine if they are a winner. A category may have several winners or possibly none at all.

Judges are seasoned professionals in the industry with an average of over 20 years experience. As a group they have a diverse background representing all areas of production including cinematography, videography, art direction, editing, sound, scriptwriting, animation and visual effects.

For long format entries, judges may at their discretion scan through areas to efficiently judge the piece. They are only required to view the first 10 minutes. These entries may include the entire program or a shorter clip that is representative of the work.

Final judging will take place in June 2010.  Finalists and winners will be notified 2 to 4 weeks later.
